  • Abstract
A universal microprocessor-based meter to measure electrical parameters in electrical power distribution systems is described. The meter uses digital sampling to obtain instantaneous values of voltage and current waveforms, which are used by a microprocessor as raw data to calculate different electrical parameters. The hardware structure of the meter is independent of any measured parameter and the device can be tailored to measure any electrical parameters using a software program. The device can be used as a panel meter for local indication or as a transducer for computerized monitoring systems
