Abstract :
The inhibition effect of o- cresol on the corrosion of 6061 Al alloy/SiCp composite in 1 M hydrochloric acid solution at four different temperatures has been investigated using potentiostatic polarization technique and weight loss method. The results obtained reveal that o-cresol is an efficient cathodic inhibitor with greater than 70% of efficiency in the range of temperature studied. The adsorption of the inhibitor on the composite surface was found to obey Temkins´ adsorption isotherm and the inhibition is governed by physisorption mechanism.
