Abstract :
The technology for prismatic covered-concentrator cells has been successfully transferred from a university to a corporation. The basic equipment to fabricate high-efficiency microgrooved PESC cells at high concentration has been set up. The cell technology is being adapted for high-volume production, to show that high-efficiency silicon solar cells for high-concentration application can be manufactured at high yield and low cost. Several cell designs that were processed have demonstrated above 21% (AM 1.5) efficiency at medium-to-high concentration without the application of prismatic cover. This efficiency is based on the revised standard cell. The efficiency of the best cell with a prismatic cover is estimated to be 22.6%
