Abstract :
Fenton oxidation-activated carbon adsorption combination process was used for the treatment of ammunition disposal wastewater in an ammunition experimental station in Lanzhou Corps District. The pilot plant tests indicated that the decomposition efficiency of ammunition disposal wastewater was affected markedly by the impact factors of Fenton oxidation. The optimal parameters of Fenton oxidation reaction, such as hydrogen peroxide concentration (0.1 mol /L), Fe2+ concentration (1.8 mmol /L), pH (3.5) and reaction time (8 hours), were achieved. Fenton oxidation creates a good circumstance for the succeeding adsorption of granular activated carbon (GAC). After the treatment of combined Fenton process, the parameters for the effluent quality have achieved Discharge standard for the water pollutants from the ordnance industry Ammunition loading of China. The results obtained in this study indicate that the Fenton oxidation- activated carbon adsorption combined process can be an alternative technology for the treatment of ammunition disposal wastewater.
