Abstract
An overview of digitizing methods for resolution beyond 12-bits is presented in order to lay the groundwork for understanding the measurement criteria associated with applications requiring high resolution. Special emphasis is placed on dynamic measurements. The principle application in the audio-frequency range is high-resolution are briefly covered. A quick overview of digital multimeters, waveform recorders, and digital oscilloscopes is presented to help rate these instruments for cost, convenience, and accuracy
