Abstract
Considering the difficulty of data processing for typical mountain area, two experiments are shown in this paper to demonstrate the key factors and the details needed to pay attention when generating DEM using SAR data. The result indicates: (1) For DEM generation, it is better to use a pair of images with a short temporal baseline, scilicet, the ERS-1/2 tandem mode is one of the best choice; (2) The influence of temporal decorrelation caused by vegetation can be avoided effectively when we consider the factor of season; (3) The generated DEM from InSAR image pairs is a relative value, and an offset may be existent in both elevation and coordinate.
