  • Abstract
Qinghai Lake Natural Protection Zone is a sanctuary for migratory birds, but also a focal point in global concerns of avian influenza. In order to support the research about migratory birds, we planned to set up a remote monitoring system in Qinghai Lake. The development of this system refers to some techniques about GIS(geographic information system), J2EE and ActiveX. This web video monitor system will provide an easy platform to monitor the migratory birds and will serve for the launch of bird research, which is an interdisciplinary e-Science innovational project with a combination of information science and biology. This paper will introduce the construction of the monitoring system network and present a solution about building the web-based video monitor system.
