Abstract
Summary form only given. This paper presents the real-time simulation and control of the "Sen" transformer (ST) for transmission power flow regulation. A detailed electromagnetic transient model was developed for the ST embedded in the network, and a comprehensive control technique was proposed for the operation of the ST. To implement the models in real-time, a state-of-the-art high performance PC-cluster based real-time simulator was used. The ST model and the controller are implemented using a custom C program in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. The execution time of the entire system is only 75 mus on a simulation time- step of 100 mus. Real-time oscilloscope results are provided to show the validity of the model under steady-state and transient conditions.
