Abstract
This paper deals with the problem of probabilistic detection of weak sine waves immersed in noise. The analysis is performed in the frequency domain after a discrete Fourier transform, and it is suited for real-time applications. The detection and false alarm probabilities are provided in analytical form as functions of the sampling parameters and the properties of the time window. In particular, both coherent and noncoherent sampling conditions are considered. Analytical results are validated by means of numerical simulations.
