Abstract :
Hepatocellular carcinoma is a cancer arising from the liver. It is also known as primary liver cancer or hepatoma. Hepatocellular carcinoma is the third most common cancer in the world. This paper aims at developing a fuzzy expert system for the risk identification of the hepatocellular carcinoma which will be useful to the doctors as a decision support system for the management of the hepatocellular carcinoma treatment. The developed system has five input variables (AFP, Tumor grade, Tumor size, Lymph node and albumin) and one output variable (Risk status). The output variable is a value from 1 to 4 representing low risk status, intermediate risk status and high risk status. This system is designed in MATLAB and uses Mamdani interface method.
