Abstract
A study is made of insulating resistance-time performance of ZnO elements in oil under a long-duration power frequency voltage by accelerating both voltage and temperature. It has been found that not only electric field and temperature, but also the oil permeability, oil, film, and oil quality have an effect on the insulating resistance performance of ZnO elements. A method for estimating limit values of the lifetime of ZnO elements is presented. Their useful lifetime values at working temperature and applied voltage ratio have been determined. A reliable method is presented for selecting kinds of ZnO elements before testing their insulating resistance-time performance in the oil
