Abstract
The Entergy FitzPatrick trending program has transitioned from a program exclusively using corrective action program information to a performance assessment program that uses a broad set of inputs. The goal of the transition to performance assessment was to improve upon the ability of the trending program to detect trends as they are emerging and before they manifest themselves in significant issues. The primary method of achieving this goal is by using all the data streams identified in INPO 05–005 “Guidelines for Performance Improvement at Nuclear Power Stations” in the analysis. This includes information from the corrective action program as well as self-assessments, benchmarking, performance indicators, management observations, lower-tier reporting systems and observations by external groups. The expansion of the information sources has resulted in identification of issues unique to the specific input source as well as identification of issues where information from multiple sources was used to detect the trend or pattern.
