Abstract
This paper presents results from a substantially experimental study of the relationship between the location of saturation-induced saliencies and the various flux components in an induction machine. The movement of the saturation-induced saliencies affects techniques that use these saliencies for flux angle estimation and direct field orientation. Approaches are presented to use this knowledge of saliency movement to improve flux angle estimation
