Abstract :
This paper presents how Core & LV “V” phase winding short fault and Core & HV “V” phase winding short fault can be detected by Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA). The test methods used by the authors for presenting the results are described. The power transformer of 10 KVA has been specially developed in-house for studying and analyzing SFRA traces by practically simulated various transformer damages on it. Authors have discussed here how the Core & LV “V” phase winding short fault and the Core & HV “V” phase winding short fault practically simulated separately on the 10 KVA power transformer and the result of these simulated faults are presented and discussed. The motivation of this presented work is to extend the guide lines for SFRA interpretation, based on experience and field examples. The SFRA data analysis is performed on three phase comparison basis and conclusions regarding usefulness of each simulation have been drawn and at last overall conclusion has also been drawn.
