Abstract :
Programming standards issues such as object naming, in-source program documentation, and the modularity issue usually referred to as program design are addressed. It is claimed that in light of the importance of programming standards, computer science students must be prepared to use standards in general, and in industry in particular. Since today´s teaching practices avoid this problem, a proposal for minimal programming standards taught by computer science departments is put forward and is shown to achieve several of the goals standardization of programming practices profess to attain
