Abstract
This article summarizes the electric power sector in Panama since its very beginning in the XIX Century going thru the first private investments until the Panama Government took over in 1961. The nationalized enterprise lasted 37 years until year 1994 when it was privatized once again until the present moment. Now the private enterprise is responsible for generation, transmission and distribution in a horizontal structure.
