Abstract :
This paper presents typical experiences of New Zealand utilities in demand side management (DSM). The current market structure of New Zealand power system is firstly introduced. The motivation and incentives for DSM amongst distribution utilities is elaborated. The typical technologies used & its impacts are then described. Current development and future aspirations for a distribution utility is discussed.
