Abstract
In temporal databases, valid time, represented by intervals, can be imprecise, i.e. the beginning or the ending of an interval is one of the points in a set. The probability that the beginning or the ending of an imprecise interval is a particular point in the set is often unknown. Based on this assumption, this paper describes a representation of, and relationships between imprecise intervals. This representation imposes less restriction on valid imprecise intervals than some existing work, and the relationships between imprecise intervals described in this paper can be used in queries for temporal databases with imprecise valid time
