Abstract :
In this paper, we first propose a simple algorithm to remove the impulse noise from television images by using block average and threshold filters. We also develop an effective impulse noise detection algorithm for classifying the quality of television images. To achieve real time applications, the architecture of the proposed filter, which contains noise detection and noise filtering, is finally designed. With low computational complexity, simulation results show that the proposed filters effectively remove the impulse noise
