Abstract :
The surfaces of polypropylene (PP) samples were treated by 800-kHz voltage low-temperature plasma in air, and the effects of this kind of treatment on charge storage in PP were studied. After plasma treatment the PP can store about 43.6% more charge than untreated samples. Infrared absorption spectroscopy, photoconduction and secondary ion mass spectroscopy results reveal that plasma treatment enhances the formation of C=C, C=O bonds and crosslinking; and the crystallinity is increased. All these groups and defects act as deep traps of negative charge; the depth of these traps ranges from 0.96 to 5.0 eV
