Abstract :
A novel three phase bridge type solid state fault current limiter (SSFCL) with coupling transformer has been developed, which can be operated in bi-directional current condition (such as operated in linking bus). The operation principle of the SSFCL and its control strategy are discussed in this paper. Problems raised especially in the bi-directional current condition are studied in detail. The performance of the SSFCL is verified through simulation and testing.
