Abstract :
Various problems associated with the optimal placement of sensors for complete observation of the spatial profile of a solid microdistributed system such as micromachined deformable structures with compact spatial domains in Rn are posed as optimization problems involving set measures. These optimization problems are generally nonsmooth and combinatorial in nature. Computational algorithms and numerical results for optimal placement of sensors in a generic one-dimensional micromachined structure are discussed
