Abstract :
This paper addresses the connectivity between ad hoc networks and IP based fixed networks. This connection can be achieved through an Internet gateway, which in this paper is assumed to be a router at the edge of the fixed network. We investigate issues on Internet gateway discovery, addressing and QoS support for interconnecting ad hoc networks and the Internet. We compare different approaches regarding addressing and micro-mobility management. Our simulation results show the performance of an ad hoc routing protocol while connecting to the Internet.
