  • Abstract
This paper describes recent research and development focused on creating practical terahertz sources and detectors for scientific, military and commercial applications. Emphasis is placed on the use of nonlinear diodes based on compound semiconductor materials and a brief comparison of their performance with that of other competing technologies.
