Abstract :
When designing low-cost, moderate-performance data converters (ADCs or DACs), CMOS is an almost universal choice. However, as the performance requirements increase and the cost constraints diminish, the choice of technology is not as straightforward. This paper analyzes trade-offs between various IC technologies for high-speed ADC/DAC insertions. These technology considerations may influence circuit designers in technology selection and help process engineers to better understand the relative strengths and weaknesses of their technologies.
