Abstract :
Ongoing development of a hermetically sealed Stirling engine/generator has resulted in a Ringbom engine configuration which is discussed here. It utilizes a four-bar crank linkage to reduce piston side forces; a solid-lubricated bearing; and a high-efficiency, high-power-density permanent magnet alternator. The novel perpendicular engine configuration results in a package which is highly serviceable. A simple variable gas spring damper provides load-matching output power control
