Abstract
The paper illustrates the methodology of computer aided modeling and simulation using bond graph models of a power converter-electrical machine assembly considering a nonlinear switching circuit. The paper joins several issues of primary interest to control engineers and system dynamics analysts. Is there a better modeling philosophy when switching devices are present? Single models vs multi models? What is the simulation methodology to follow with complex nonlinear systems with multiple discontinuities? A new working environment for simulation of such systems using tile CAMP/G-ACSL system under the WINDOWS environment is discussed. The generation of a complex model by means of graphical input and a new system for model generation with a simulation control panel is discussed. Finally the paper illustrates how a two physical models where one controls the other; can be generates simultaneously with two bond graphs at the same time and simulated at the same time
