Abstract
A characterization of the well-known Routh-Hurwitz criterion through geometric programming concepts is used to address the design of H2-suboptimal stable controllers. It is shown that controller design problems with open-loop stability constraints, same as those based on the minimization of H2 norms, can be carried out using linear programming techniques. A numerical example illustrates the design of H2-suboptimal stable controllers through the approach proposed
