Abstract
This paper presents a dynamic economic dispatch model taking into account the valve point effects of each unit. Furthermore, considering the uncertainties of wind power and the changes of load demand, the proposed model is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem which is solved by a novel method, group search optimizer with adaptive strategies. The proposed method employs the adaptive strategies, including an adaptive covariance matrix and an efficient mutation operation scheme to increase both exploration and exploitation capabilities of the group search optimizer. The effectiveness of the proposed method is examined using two different test cases with a comparison between the proposed method and other heuristic algorithms. It is demonstrated that the proposed method is capable of solving the dynamic economic dispatch problem efficiently.
