Abstract
BANKS is an integrated decision support system for financial evaluation in today´s complex international banking sector. It contains two parts: a database including basic data gathered from the last four annual reports of over 600 banks in the world, and a complete financial evaluation module. The main elements of the assets, liabilities and income statement are presented in a standard form and fifteen financial ratios are computed. Besides more classical analysis displays, the PROMETHEE and GAIA multicriteria methods are used to position each bank with respect to user-defined reference markets. The system has been designed with user friendliness in mind. It has been implemented on microcomputer and high resolution graphics are used to enhance its efficiency
