  • Abstract
    The effect of array wiring voltage drop on system cost vs. performance is discussed. A computer model was developed to provide system designers with a tool for choosing the most cost-effective combination of photovoltaic (PV) modules and wire gauge for each unique set of circumstances and performance goals. Modeling over a range of distances and system power levels indicated that a fixed voltage drop percentage (such as 3%) cannot accurately be recommended as optimum for all situations
