Abstract :
This paper introduces a method for determining optimal location and capacity of dynamic shunt reactive power (VAR) support which is needed to enhance power quality and ensure short term stability with respect to credible contingencies. In this paper, simulated annealing (SA) and trajectory optimization (TO) technique is proposed for solving mixed integer minimax trajectory optimization (MIMTO) problem. This method is tested on 3 bus system and IEEE 39 bus system with promising results.
