Abstract :
Remote sensing and monitoring of cardiopulmonary activities based on direct conversion Doppler radar shows promise in medical and security applications. For accurate sensing, demodulation of the quadrature outputs of a direct-conversion Doppler radar is a great challenge. A digital signal processor based on Kalman filtering and principal component combining of quadrature channels is suggested. Rate detection ability and success ratio is evaluated and compared with other techniques. This radar sensor system achieves good detection accuracy in increased noise power level.
