Abstract :
In the process of making `c´ fiber from PAN, there is an intermediate product called oxygen catalytic fiber, which features different semiconductor resistivities with respect to different heat treatment temperatures. This kind of fiber or fiber braid has good electric characteristics, mechanical strength, temperature stability, and ease of processing. It has been successfully used in high-voltage motor corona protection. Results of a winding corona structure test using the PAN semiconductor are presented. Also described is a PAN bandage in a 6000-V, 310-kW induction motor
