Abstract
Study is made of the parametric instability of electromagnetic surface waves guided by the planar boundary between the uniform composite medium and isotropic dielectric half-space. The parametric instability has been developed in the presence of intense external time-harmonic magnetic field which is perpendicular to an interface of the media. The expression of the instability increment is obtained for both the forward and backward TE polarized surface waves. For the some practically interesting cases numerical analyses have been performed.
