Abstract :
The purposes of this workshop were to: (1) examine the state of the art, trends, and prospects for adoption of photovoltaic technologies in developing nations in the near and medium terms, with emphasis on effective and environmentally sound options and a special focus on problems of commercialization, dissemination, and market penetration; and (2) develop recommendations for strategies, plans, cooperative activities, and funding mechanisms to promote the commercialization, mass production, and application of photovoltaic technology to planners and policy-makers in governments and international organizations. The various aspects of the Sao Paulo, Brazil Declaration 1991 are discussed
