Abstract :
In this paper, a preliminary analysis of the impact of high wind power penetration in the operation of the Greek interconnected power system is presented. The problems studied in the paper are those related to the stability of the power system under the presence of disturbances. The impact of the installation of 3000 MW penetration of wind power in the Greek power system projected to 2012 is investigated. The analysis presented here is based on the results of time-domain simulations. The dynamic modelling of the wind turbines is also discussed. Conclusions and recommendations regarding the appropriate integration of new installations are extracted and presented.
