Abstract :
Energy efficiency and reliability are big concerns in existing power systems. There are a variety of losses during transmission and distribution of electricity. In this paper we employ the concept of micro-grids which are scaled-down versions of the centralized electricity system for modeling and implementation ofa model village system. To control a model village system, three controllers are implemented on a micro grid system. A distribution grid station present in rural area is first converted into micro grids and then three controllers i.e. home control unit, village control unit and inter-village control unit are implemented on it. Home control unit regulates and controls the model home operations. Village control unit regulates the power flow of model homes and distributed energy resource using bidding technique for non-critical loads. Similarly, the inter-village control unit will regulate power sharing between different model villages using game theoretic techniques so that the cost function consisting of cost of fuel and line losses is minimized.
