Abstract
Many different devices for optical pulse processing are based on fiber nonlinearity. These devices use the intensity-dependent refractive index (Kerr devices, nonlinear couplers, loop mirrors, four-wave mixing, soliton dragging) or optical amplification (Raman or Brillouin). For an overview, we examine how one operation (demultiplexing) might be performed with different fiber nonlinear devices.
