Abstract :
This paper proposes a coordinated control algorithm of UPFC and shunt capacitors/reactors. Operating UPFC with this algorithm can keep the voltage of voltage control target buses in the range of desired level and avoid inverter capacity limit problem. In order to maximize operational reserve of shunt inverter, the shunt capacitors/reactors is switched on or off and operating point of UPFC is changed. This algorithm decides the shunt capacitors/reactors combination attaining the highest voltage security. The voltage sensitivity is used for fast calculation. For verification of the proposed algorithm, numerical simulations have been performed on IEEE 10 genertor-39 bus system.
