Abstract
The aim of the paper is to illustrate a method by which the EMC performance of software controlled real time systems can be maintained throughout the life cycle of software development. The examples used are taken from military aircraft systems, however they are equally applicable to many other mobile or fixed installations. Like many modern products, the military aircraft contains many software-controlled systems, from non critical items such as the maintenance data recorder, through the navigation and display systems, up to the safety critical flying control and landing gear systems. A total of two hundred or more separate processors may be employed, spread amongst tens of avionic equipment from different manufacturers
