Abstract :
Reserving adequate resources for an application is a prerequisite to guarantee its performance. Resource reservation gains many attentions because it is a basic mechanism for network providing quality of service control. The term, “hidden resource”, is defined. Based on the cause analysis of hidden resource phenomenon in the procedure of resource reservation, the solutions aiming at the problem of hidden resource are analyzed. We put forward a resource reservation states adjustment scheme based on arrival rate estimation. Rate envelope is adopted for arrival rate estimation and the traffic feature of self-similarity is considered. The simulation results show that the adjustment scheme can solve the hidden resource problem effectively.
