Abstract :
This paper describes a new course on digital signal processing for power electronics practice for undergraduate students of Electronics Engineering at Federico Santa Maria University of Technology. A comprehensive program was designed to develop practical experience on power electronics by employing a low-cost complete DSP-based module, based on the Texas Instruments TMS320F24I digital signal processor, developed by two graduate students. This new program has been successfully applied in lab activities on power electronics equipment such as single-phase inverters, single-phase boost rectifier and others. Two applications are described with methods and tools. Strengths and weaknesses of the proposed approach are analyzed integrating teachers ´perspectives and students feedback.
