Abstract :
The aim of the work is the measurement of the recoil proton response of EJ309 liquid scintillator to neutrons in relation to gamma rays. The scintillation response for heavy particles is a non-linear function of the particle energy. In our work, we measure this response for EJ309 on fast neutrons and plot the curve of light output as a function of deposited energy. The method of the measurement is based on fast neutron scattering on protons in liquid scintillator medium. A simple setup of two detectors: EJ309 and plastic BC408 are used to register the energy of scattered neutron. We applied time of flight (ToF) technique to improve the accuracy of the method.
