Abstract :
A novel feed configuration for a rectangular microstrip patch antenna is proposed. The feed structure consists of a microstripline with gap discontinuity under the patch. This structure is analyzed by a Galerkin method in the spectral domain. The calculated input impedances of the patch are compared with measurements. Results show that the coupling between the feedline gap and the patch can be controlled by the offset. It can be applied to the series-fed patch arrays.<>
