Abstract
The authors examine several design issues critical to the design of a dual-linear array element, such as feed mechanism and mutual coupling effect. They show how the design process can be simplified by the aid of a new Printed Antenna Design (PAD) tool developed for designing microstrip antennas. Using this tool, it was shown that the dimensions of the patch and the feedlines must be chosen carefully to yield the desired resonant frequency and to simplify the matching process for the feed network.<>
