Abstract
In this paper, the camera calibration approach based on the perspective model for the tilt angle, pan angle and the height of installation is proposed. Before starting the calibration, the lane information is acquired by applying the Sobel horizontal and vertical edged pixels. The calibration method only utilizes a pair of parallel lane markings without manually selecting special features. The tilt angle, pan angle and camera height are calibrated sequentially in our method. This algorithm can be widely applied in vehicle collision avoidance applications and traffic monitoring systems.
