Abstract :
In 2005 the author published an article in North American Windpower magazine that discussed how in recent years power generation projects using wind turbines have been required to operate in a similar manner to conventional generating resources. The subject was later presented during Panel Session ldquoOptional Characteristics of Wind Farmsrdquo at the 2006 IEEE PES General Meeting held in Montreal, Quebec. This paper serves as a summary that updates the information and conclusions relative to North American transmission system operatorspsila interconnection requirements that have evolved since the original publication.
