Abstract :
One major drawback associated with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique is the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmitted signal. By introducing the weighting phase sequence which contains a set of phase factors called as side information, Partial transmit sequence (PTS) and selected mapping (SLM) schemes both provide good performance for PAPR reduction. In this paper, we investigate the influence of the weighted phase sequence distribution of the side information on PAPR. Computer simulation results show that the closer side information approach to uniform distribution, the better PAPR performance can get, especially when the phase sequence subjects to uniform distribution has best PAPR reduction performance while normal distributed phase sequence leads to the worst performance on PAPR reduction.
