Abstract
The problem of microwave diagnostics of defects or imperfections in dielectric materials is considered. For this purpose the authors propose to utilize the E-pulse technique used earlier for target identification in free space. By resorting to the two-dimensional model of a circular defect located in a dielectric halfspace and an E- or H-polarized probing field, the practical applicability of this idea is verified and its possibilities are theoretically investigated. Illustrative data obtained by digital computer methods are presented.<>
